What is Featured Snippet?
Turkish: Öne Çıkan Snippet
A featured snippet is a SERP result that shows a short answer, list, or table for a query and can increase page visibility.
What is a Featured Snippet?
A featured snippet is a special search result area that answers a user’s question before the user clicks through to a page. It may appear as a paragraph, numbered steps, a bullet list, a table, or a definition-style box.
How Is It Selected?
Google does not guarantee a snippet because a site owner marks one up. It extracts the result it considers most useful for the search intent. Clear answers, clean heading hierarchy, direct wording, and trustworthy supporting content can improve the chance of being selected.
In the SERP, a featured snippet often appears above traditional organic listings. Schema.org structured data can strengthen context, but it does not by itself win a featured snippet.
SEO Use
Featured snippets are especially relevant for “what is”, “how to”, step-by-step, and comparison searches. Glossaries, help centers, and guide content often fit this format well.
The trade-off is zero-click behavior: some users get enough information from the result page and never visit the site. Content targeting snippets should give a concise answer first, then provide examples, detail, and decision support beyond the short excerpt.
