What is Upsell?
Turkish: Upsell
Upsell increases cart or subscription value by offering a broader, more expensive, or higher-value version of the chosen product.
What is Upsell?
Upsell means offering a higher-tier version of the product or plan a customer already intends to buy. A Pro plan in SaaS, more RAM in a laptop, a larger hotel room, or a premium package in commerce are common examples.
Difference from Cross-sell
Upsell moves the customer to a higher-value option in the same product family. Cross-sell suggests a complementary product; offering a phone case with a phone is cross-sell, while offering the same phone with more storage is upsell.
How Is It Applied?
An effective upsell makes the extra value clear. Comparison tables, usage limits, warranty duration, support level, and delivery advantages should be easy to understand. Showing an aggressive offer during checkout can increase abandonment.
Business Use
In e-commerce and SaaS products, upsell is used to increase average order value or monthly subscription revenue. The ethical boundary matters: pushing an expensive option that does not fit the customer’s need may create short-term revenue but damage trust and repeat purchase behavior.

Cross-sell recommends complementary products or services that fit what the customer chose, improving basket value and product usefulness.
